It’s official. I’m done with my second year of college: All classes and exams…finished! Nearly four months without going home, and I’m ready to see the fam!
Packing up the car tomorrow, and mom flies into Columbia Wednesday morning, and we’re off to see Dominique in Lexington, KY for the weekend! With her wedding 81 days away (July 17, 2010), we’re going to hang out and go to a wedding shower on Sunday!
Looking back, this was quite the busy and fun semester! For those who know me well, I’ve kept it well documented. : ) 1,313 pictures and a million memories later, here’s a photo montage of some favorites! Enjoy.
Since my last post, I have basically toured quite a bit of the southeast!
My journey began Wednesday, April 28th when I picked up my Mom at the Columbia Airport. We drove to Lexington, KY (amazing mountain views) and stayed there until Monday, May 3rd. While there, we had fun doing goofy things from getting our nails done to cheering on Super Saver in the KY Derby to attending a very nice wedding shower for Dominique on Sunday. Monday morning, we got up bright and early and drove back to Huntsville.
Working Trip Mileage: 768 Miles
Then…the oil spill. Worried that our favorite beach spot, Navarre Beach, FL may be affected, we realized my Dad had a few days off, so pourquoi pas, why not? This might be our last opportunity to go down there for a while, so my parents and I hopped back in the car Wednesday, May 5th and drove off. The weather was perfect, and I definitely got my Summer tan/slight burn back! : ) Yesterday, Saturday, May 8th, I finally made it back to Huntsville. Final Trip Mielage (Columbia->Lexington->Huntsville->Navarre->Huntsville): 1,545 Miles
An epic start to Summer…
On July 17, 2010, my sister got married to Jason Crisler!
We drove up to Lexington, KY on Thursday. Crammed in the backseat of Stephen’s new truck, we made a couple stops on the way at the Jack Daniel’s Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee, and for lunch in Nashville. That night, several of us went to dinner at Shamrock’s Bar & Grill where it happened to be Trivia Night! Fun stuff. :) Also that night, Amber, Anna, Dominique, and I had a little girl’s night hanging out in our room. Devil horn veil? Check.

Friday, us four girls went to lunch at A La Lucie, just a block from the church, and had an amazing time! The atmosphere was so cute, and the food great. Then, we headed back to Posh Salon and had a mani, pedi. Four hours later (yes, it was intense, felt so good!) we all went back and got ready for the rehearsal! We headed to the church at 6, and went through the rehearsal. Everything went so smoothly! Then, we headed over to Rossi’s for the rehearsal dinner. Everyone attending visited with new and old friends and family for hours.

Saturday: The Wedding Day!!!!
Amber, Dominique, and I got our hair done in the morning at Hair Revue by Dominique’s usual stylist. After we got glamorized, we headed back to the hotel (not after stopping to get Dominique some iced tea from McDonald’s first!) and relaxed before getting ready and taking the limo over the church for pictures.

The Wedding: A beautiful Catholic mass with a very personal and excellent homily by the priest, Father John Liste. Dominique and Jason gave served as the eucharistic ministers, which added a great touch because they were able to see everyone in attendance. As the newly married couple walked out of the church, we headed around back and took a couple more pictures before taking the limo back to the DoubleTree for the Reception.

The Reception: The wedding party was announced by the DJ and began the line for the very tasty buffet dinner. After eating, the bride and groom danced to “Hypnotize the Moon” by Clay Walker for their first dance, followed by the bride and Dad dancing to What a Wonderful World. Then, the dancing began with Black Eyed Peas “I Gotta Feeling.” Everyone went to the dance floor and the party didn’t end until 11! I was the Maid of Honor and made a toast followed by Travis, Jason’s brother and Best Man. Then, the square 3-tier cake was cut in the atrium area. In the bouquet and garter tosses, Murielle caught the bouquet and one of Jason’s friends caught the garter. By the end of the night, feet were hurting, but all the guests left happy for Dominique and Jason.

Each guest got a salt and pepper shaker tied together by wedding themed ribbon. The idea for the favor came from the movie: Fireproof. Here’s the clip about the shakers!

The Brunch: Sunday morning, for those who stayed at the hotel, Dominique and Jason met everyone downstairs for a nice buffet brunch. Following this, we went with them to see their new house.

The Honeymoon: They left on Monday for a week in Cancun!
Bonne chance et félicitations à l’heureux couple!
